Greenview Fertilizer - Best Time to Apply

A customer emailed us and wanted Greenview fertilizer product shipped so they could apply it. Seems their grass is growing and they saw weeds sprouting.

240pxforsythia_intermedia Greenview Online monitors the weather and weed conditions up and down the east coast and in your area. To date we had no reports (in this customer's area) of forsythia blooming which appears several weeks before dandelions.

Part of our Greenview Online service is to ship the product a couple weeks before you'll need to apply it and tell you when the best application window is. Our best guess now is that you should apply sometime between April 15 and May 1.

Now we all know the customer is always right and we very much thank you for the enthusiasm, but patience is needed. Why? We do not recommend application of the Spring fertilizer just yet and here is why!

The Greenview Fairway Formula Spring fertilizer is designed to be applied when the dandelion leaves are in full glory. The best time is when the flowers are blooming or right before the puff balls appear.

I hate those yellow flowers so I cheat a bit and apply my Spring fertilizer when I can see the dandelion flower buds and then mow the grass a couple days later. Now, you don't want to mow too soon because the chemical is absorbed by the leaves so we need to let it rest for a couple days. With this routine I get minimal yellow in my yard.

So, if we send the fertilizer now, you will apply this too early and you will get excellent crabgrass control BUT NOT get good broadleaf weed control.
