Warmer temperatures and the sunny disposition of spring welcome Mother Nature’s best-dressed and most talented performers: her birds.
If you’re lucky, they will migrate to your yard bringing endless hours of entertainment in song, dance and color, seeking only food, water and shelter in return. If you plan it right, they might make their backyard their home, feathering their nests with materials you provide in your garden and landscape, to produce a new generation of talent for many seasons to come.
So what can you do to make your yard an oasis for birds? Lyric Wild Bird Food is a great place to start. But the answer is more than bird feeders, bird houses and birdbaths. A more effective (and natural) approach is to plan for their arrival from the ground up!

Here are a few quick tips to take care of your landscape during the winter months:
Make sure to brush off snow gathered on the top of bushes and other plants. The weight of the snow can break branches and damage the plants.
Try to avoid walking over the grass when there is snow or ice; this can cause the grass blades to break off.
Clean up any debris, like fallen branches, after winter storms.
Break out the shovel and not the ice! Ice melt can hurt your grass and plants. If you do use ice melt, be sure to lightly brush off any salt that has accumulated on your plants or lawn.
